During the European literature festival from November 23rd to 26th, the French Institute Tokyo and EUNIC Japan (European Union National Institutes for Culture) are pleased to organize for the first time, a special day about the world of translation.

Lectures, authors readings and 2 round tables will be organized with several european writers, translators and intellectuals.

 

This event is open to everyone.

 

Program

■1 – Literary lunch at La Brasserie (French restaurant)

Participants will enjoy a buffet lunch, while stopping in between servings to listen to readings by writers from a variety of countries including Carmine Abate (Italy) and Bianca Bellová (Czech).

 

   ・ 12:00 – 13:45 (registration from 11:30)
   ・ a buffet style lunch with authors readings and talking
   ・ 3000 yen / pers, drinks not included, to be paid in cash at the restaurant.

 

■ 2 – Round tables at Espace images (conference hall) : The World of translation

Session 1 : 14:00 – 15:15 The promotion of translation

Representatives from Michaela Bodesheim (Germany), Jisung Kim (Germany), Chieko Kono (Japan), Bernard Catrysse (Belgium), Sarah Vandy (France) and David Carrion (Spain) present various initiatives available to facilitate translation and publishing of translations.

Session 2 : 15:30 – 16:45 The art of translation

Translators and writers working in different languages discuss various aspects of literary translation. Participants include : Dieter M. Gräf (Poet, German), Shinichi Sakayori (German and Austrian literature), Mitsuko Ohno (Irish literature), Yumi Nishimura (Nederland), Anita Nagy (Japanese literature into Hugarian), Toshihide Kurihara (Italian literature, moderator).
